This is an exclusive one-day student conference, being hosted as a collaboration between the ABP and University of Westminster. The event aims to bring together business psychology students, alumni, early-career researchers & professionals, with potential graduate recruiters interested in applying psychology in the workplace.
The conference will run a series of workshops, corporate exhibits, keynotes, speaker sessions and a discussion panel which will be live streamed. This offers all delegates an invaluable opportunity to gain new skills sets, industry insights and face-to-face networking amongst a high calibre talent pool and industry experts.
We will have 3 streams:
Innovations in Graduate Recruitment
The change in demand for graduates has seen some truly innovative developments in recruitment over the last few years. Advances like gamification, virtual job trials and new approaches to volume processing have changed the landscape of traditional hiring. Delegates will learn what new recruitment strategies are being used to attract talented new grads and how candidates can successfully break into the job market amid serious competition. Speakers and exhibitors will be offered the opportunity to showcase a new or iconic product than demonstrates this innovation - providing opportunities for new talent to engage with your organisation.
Workforce of the Future
How we work has moved from office hours / shift patterns to an “always on” schedule. The impact of technology has led to requirements for new skills, while facilitating new types of demand in media and analytics. Moreover, as the last of the millennials and Gen Y join Generation Z and prep to make an entry point into work, the UK workforce will become more diverse than ever with 5 different generations working together. This stream allows speakers / potential recruiters to demonstrate what they anticipate from future employees. Delegates will gain invaluable insights into changing patterns of work and the impact of a multigeneration workforce.
Student Research Contributions
The opportunity for students to showcase their work, collaboration, or sole project, at the conference and to potential recruiters.
For further information, the conference presentation can be viewed here.
We are inviting submissions from both student speakers and other academics/practitioners.
Note that the deadline for entries into STUDENT RESEARCH CONTRIBUTIONS only has been extended to 1st June 2018. All other speaker submission deadlines remains 22nd May 2018.
If you are carrying out or recently submitted a dissertation, thesis or research paper in an area using psychology to address a workplace issue, we would like to invite you to share your work. You could be a current MSc, PhD or even undergraduate student carrying out your dissertation and wish to discuss your research proposal and progress so far, or an alumni sharing your research. This is an excellent platform for you to share your research ideas or findings and receive feedback from a mixed audience of practitioners and fellow students. Speaker slots are limited. You will be given 20 mins in which to present and run a Q&A. This is an open category submission. All we ask is that your work should at least:
- Apply psychological theory and principles to a workplace issue (e.g. work environment, productivity and performance, communication, professional satisfaction & safety etc.).
- Help to deliver evidence-based solutions within the organisational domain.
All content is subject to approval. Entries can be submitted using the online registration form HERE (please select Student Research Contributions as your conference stream). Deadline 1st June. We will endeavour to inform you of the outcome of your submission within 2 weeks of the deadline.
All other Speakers:
If you would like to be considered for any of the other speaker slots, please submit your details using the same form as above, selecting the relevant conference stream. Deadline 22nd May.
